2017-2018 Back to School Presentation

2017-2018 PE

PE will take place every other Thursday this year for grades 1-5. Please be sure your child applies sunscreen daily and mosquito repellent. We encourage students to drink plenty of water, so a refillable water bottle would be beneficial.

Coat Rack

This is a final call for the items on the coat rack. Please stop by the lost and found rack this week to see if your child has left a jacket behind. All items will be donated at the week’s end.

 

Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences will continue on Monday and Tuesday this week. Birney will operate on a modified schedule for students in grade 1-5. Students in grades 1-5 will begin at their regular time and will conclude daily at 1:35 pm.

 

Hello 2018

This will be the final Monday packet for 2017! I would like to take a moment to thank the Birney community for their unwavering support of the school. The staff and I thank you for all you do, and we hope you have a happy and safe holiday season. See you Tuesday, January 2, 2018!

 

Project Unified

Thank you for your support of Project Unified. We appreciate your generosity, and we are thrilled to be able to assist so many RBUSD families this holiday season.

 

 

Winter Spirit Week

The Birney Student Council presents a week of Holiday Spirit. Please see the attached flyer for more information on the the daily theme. 
 

Grateful Hearts

Developing a grateful heart in our students is important. This holiday season let’s help support that endeavor by having students give to the less fortunate, volunteer their time in the community and/or write a thank you note for every gift or act of kindness they receive.

We welcome all dads/father figures to dedicate one volunteer day at school.  Click here to learn more about this amazing program. A staff member will contact you a few days before your volunteer day. If you have a Watch DOGS t-shirt, please wear that on your volunteer day. If this is your first Watch DOGS volunteer day, we will provide you with a t-shirt.

Birney is proud to be a 2017 Silver Level recipient of the Green Ribbon Award. Birney has been recognized for making an impact in the following three areas (as stated by the California Department of Education):

  1. Reduce environmental impact and costs;
  2. Improve the health and wellness of schools, students, and staff; and
  3. Provide environmental education, which teaches many disciplines, and is especially good at effectively incorporating STEM, civic skills, and green career pathways.
